"When God created the horse, he said to the magnificent creature: I have made thee as no other. All the treasures of the earth shall lie between thy eyes. Thou shalt cast thy enemies between thy hooves, but thou shalt carry my friends upon thy back. Thy saddle shall be the seat of prayers to me. And thou fly without any wings, and conquer without any sword. And God took a handful of southerly wind, blew his breath upon it, and created the horse. ~ Bedouin legend" This quote is often used to refer to Arabian horses as the Bedouin are are a part of a predominantly desert-dwelling Arabian ethnic group, however, we feel that this quote applies to any horse because they are all God's creatures.

The timeless beauty of the Friesian horse is noble and majestic. They'll capture your heart as they did ours. We invite you to take a look around our website. Just as the Friesian stole our hearts, the Barock Pinto impressed us with the qualities of a Friesian, striking black and white contrasts of color and the sport abilities of the Warmblood. We put a great deal of thought and time into the creation of our KWPN Barock Pinto breeding program. We selected and imported horses for our specific needs by studying their pedigrees, confirmation, movement and temperament and finding mares and fillies that, when bred to our stallions, would produce quality foals that will excel in equestrian performance sports as adults. We also breed for temperament and looked for horses with a willing attitude, calm demeanor and desire to work. Our goal as breeders is to raise horses that will become someone's life partner. Our horses are handled from the moment they are born, loved and taught respect so that they have a good foundation for a happy life. We love them for a short while before they go to their new homes but they're in our hearts forever. We also keep in touch with our horse's new owners and have made lifelong friends through our horses. Your success is our success and we cheer you on every step of the way. ZoZo's Grooming Cream

Made for Zoey - Now Available for Your Horse Too!

Get Yours Today at ThornRidge.com

Thorn Ridge Ranch's ZoZo’s Grooming Cream™ was created and developed by our co-founder, Melissa Alvarez at her family’s horse breeding facility, Top Hat Friesians, for their Friesian mare Zoey fan Top Hat (ZoZo) who had numerous coat conditions due to the heat, humidity, and bugs in South Florida. Melissa researched, developed, and tested ZoZo’s Grooming Cream on Zoey over a period of five years until she finally created the perfect barrier cream that worked consistently as a protective bandage over Zoey’s coat and skin, and shielded it while Zoey’s body healed any scratches, sores, or cuts that she had acquired.

ZoZo’s Grooming Cream contains a lot of exceptional ingredients including Kaolin clay, zinc, plant oils, essential oils, and vitamin E to name a few. It works to keep a horse’s coat in top condition by creating a protective barrier on areas of the coat and skin. ZoZo’s Grooming Cream works in two ways. Once applied on troubled or irritated areas of the coat or skin, like scrapes or wounds, and left uncovered, the grooming cream hardens to become a barrier bandage that covers and protects the area to give the horse’s body time to heal itself. The hardened barrier bandage will remain in place until it gradually falls off, or until you either brush it off or hose it off with water. Secondly, if you have an area where you’ve applied the grooming cream but you also want to wrap the area with traditional elastic vet wraps, self-adhesive wrap bandages, dressings, or any other type of bandage, the grooming cream will stay soft because it’s not exposed to the air and it will provide an added layer of protection between the horse’s coat and the bandages while the horse heals itself. ZoZo’s Grooming Cream is light and fluffy, and it smells great too.

PICASSO'S MASTERPIECE - BAROCK PINTO STALLION  -  RETIRED FROM BREEDING

I have retired Picasso from breeding simply because I no longer have the desire or inclination to stand him at stud anymore nor can I easily get him to the vet for collection. I do have a limited amount of frozen semen available that I may sell by the dose in select circumstances. One dose of semen costs $1200. If you're interested in his frozen semen, email or call me. Contracts are no longer available on the website but can be emailed. Picasso is very fertile and to date, all inseminations with his frozen semen have resulted in a live foal. That being said, any time you breed, whether it's live cover, fresh cooled, or frozen, there's always a chance the mare will not get in foal. It is highly recommended when breeding with frozen semen that you use a veterinarian who is a reproduction specialist with experience in AI breeding with frozen semen. If you use a general veterinarian without frozen semen experience the breeding may not result in pregnancy. Frozen semen does not come with a live foal guarantee.

Picasso's great dam sire is none other than the amazing Preferent Friesian stallion Oege 267 who is well known in the Friesian world as the "hair man" for passing along his abundance of hair to his offspring. Picasso's following in his great grandsire's footsteps and is throwing lots of hair to his offspring as well as excellent conformation and amazing temperaments. Picasso's mane is currently 4 1/2 feet long and reaches his knee. Picasso does not have any Gypsy Vanners in his pedigree. His abundance of hair is from Oege 267.

Picasso's Masterpiece was imported from Denmark in 2009 as a foal. He is registered with ECHA-ESV in Germany and is registered in the United States with the Friesian Heritage Horse as a Foundation Stallion in the Baroque Pinto Warmblood Heritage Studbook , the Friesian Sporthorse™ Association (FSA) in the Main Studbook and in the Bronze Elite Performance Book, and is a Sanctioned Stallion in the Friesian Blood Horse Registry.

OUR ORIGINAL MINIS
MY LITTLE GARAGE SALE GUYS

These two little guys are American Miniature horses, not Falabellas, but it didn't feel right leaving them out so here they are!

On the left: 12 Oaks Invest In Silver - (Silver)~~DOB:2/17/2007~~ Color: Grey Pinto~~Height: 29"
On the right: Island’s Grasshopper Mist - (Grasshopper)~~ DOB: 2/4/2007 - July 31, 2025~~Color: Bay Pinto~~ Height: 29"

Back in 2014 I went to a yard sale in my neighborhood and saw these two tiny horses in the back yard. Another patron was asking the owner about them and said she would give them away as long as they stayed together. They'd been together since they were four months old. The other lady wasn't interested so I asked if I could pet them. She told me, "You can try. The brown one might let you touch him but you'll never get your hands on the white one." So I went out in the yard and within five minutes I was petting Grasshopper. I noticed that Silver's halter was digging into his face so I explained that I wanted to fix his halter so it wouldn't hurt anymore. About five minutes later, I was adjusting his halter. The lady couldn't believe it and I picked them up later that day. After I got them, I had them vet checked and discovered that Silver had foundered in all four feet. They were feral and had been abused. They were both severely overweight because they were allowed to eat grain unrestricted. I've had these little guys for eleven years now and they've really come around although I think Silver will always be somewhat wary of people, especially men. But that's okay, they're with me for the rest of their lives. My little guys! Update: On July 31, 2025 I lost Grasshopper to a severe colic. He will be dearly missed. Silver is having a hard time adjusting because they were a bonded pair who had been together 18 years. He immediately reverted to being scared of everything including me, which was devastating because it took me two years for me to truly gain his trust. I've been spending extra time to help him through this. He getting better every day and he still has Tiara but it's not the same. Rest In Peace My Sweet Little Grasshopper.
